What You Could Be Doing!
As a GIS developer at Navigraph, you'll develop the GIS data pipeline powering our maps and contribute to our Navigraph Charts app. From aeronautical data to weather patterns, you’ll transform raw data into vector and raster tiles that support aviation dreams worldwide. Your work will even be featured directly in Microsoft Flight Simulator!
Building data pipelines end to end: Ingest raster and vector sources into PostGIS, transform them, and push them all the way out to the apps. Example: write a script that automatically fetches magnetic declination data, imports it, and keeps it up to date without anyone having to touch it.
Process raster information into vector data: For example, transform rasterized magnetic declination data into isolines on vector tiles.
Making maps that look great: Turn dense vector layers into maps that are clear at a glance and a pleasure to look at. Example: design a wind visualization that makes a global forecast feel alive, the kind of layer people screenshot and share.
Generate and serve tiles at scale: Produce slippy-map tiles for web and in-sim clients, and ensure they're delivered quickly and cost-effectively via our AWS infrastructure.
Automate data updates: Avoid repetitive work! Make the infrastructure handle all the updates from the source data down to the apps.
Shipping features users will notice: Deliver map capabilities directly into Navigraph products, and see them in the hands of the community within weeks.
Designing APIs: Build endpoints that feed both our own apps and third-party developers building on the Navigraph platform.
Prototyping what's next: Explore and evaluate new data sources, rendering techniques, and tooling. Weather radar, terrain and obstacle data, satellite imagery, 3D, whatever moves aviation visualization forward. Many of our shipped features started as experiments in this team.
Collaborating closely: Within the team and with other engineering teams, Product, Design, and Tech Leads to keep the platform moving in the right direction.
What We Offer!
Navigraph is built on an open, caring culture where people genuinely come first. The structure is flat, leadership is hands-on, and flexibility is based on trust. Innovation and creativity aren't just tolerated, they're expected. You'll join a team that genuinely enjoys what they do and takes pride in setting the standard for what flight simulation tools can be.
Flexible work options: On-site and hybrid
A great benefits package: please check out our career site.
Growth opportunities: We’ll support your professional development and provide the resources you need to excel.
